The WA Government has introduced tenancy reforms including a ban on rent bidding. As a result of the reforms, tenants or property agents will be banned from asking tenants to pay more money to secure an available rental property. The laws will give tenants the confidence to enforce their rights without retaliatory action such as sudden rent increases, breach notices or lease terminations.
Failure for non-compliance by landlords will attract penalties of up to $10,000 or $50,000 for a corporation. Read more here.
