The WA Government will allocate $702,000 towards the establishment of the proposed new local government inspector and monitors. The initiative is part of the State’s local government reform agenda and aims to strengthen the oversight of local governments through the provision of early intervention and assistance to councils as problems arise.
Legislation to establish the inspector and monitors will be introduced to State Parliament later this year with an expression of interest process for monitors planned for late 2024. Read more here
