The Department of Justice has release a media statement outlining pay increases for YCOs. The Department and the CPSU/CSA have come to an agreement to increase the salary of the YCOs at Banksia Hill Detention Centre. These YCOs are highly trained with the neccessary skills and knowledge to care for and work with the young people that are being detained. This increase in salary will help to retain YCOs, and hopefully attract more to join, while also recognising the challenges they face in their complex roles. Read the statement here.
