The Australian Government is leading an inquiry into the issues related to menopause and perimenopause on women’s longer term economic health. This has emerged as a factor to determine policy to improve workforce participation, productivity and retirement planning for women. Based on research conducted by The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), women’s superannuation balances are negatively impacted as they transition through menopause by taking time out of the workforce or retiring prematurely. The deadline to report findings from the inquiry has been extended by a week to 17 September 2024. Read more about the inquiry and submissions here.
