Volunteering Australia is leading the Volunteering in Australia research project aimed at shaping the future of volunteering in Australia.
Results from a survey of the general Australia population carried out in April 2022 showed that the number of Australians undertaking volunteer work is lower than it was compared to pre-COVID levels. The Early Insights report noted that some volunteers had not yet returned due to hesitancy around engaging in public-facing roles as the pandemic continues with others being unable to return as volunteer programs had not yet reopened fully or at all.
Organisations or groups that involve volunteers are now invited to share their thoughts in an online survey. Results of the survey will inform the development of the National Strategy for Volunteering.
