The National Foundation Skills Framework sets out a 10-year model for collective action by governments working with stakeholders to improve the foundation skills of Australian adults. Foundation skills are the competencies that underpin workforce participation, productivity, and social inclusion and include employability and English language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills.

The Framework will be reviewed every three years to report progress and will inform the development of jurisdictional action plans to achieve nationally agreed outcomes.

The Framework replaces the 2012 National Foundation Skills Strategy for Adults operating from 2022 to 2032.
