The Correctional Services Training Package (Release 4.0) has been endorsed by the Skills Ministers for implementation.
The Correctional Services Industry Reference Committee, with the support of its Technical Advisory Committees, has developed new Units of Competency and Skill Sets, and updated existing materials to address skills needs of Correctional Services Officers working with offenders who have experienced trauma and offenders who have a cognitive impairment.
– CSC Working with Cognitively Impaired Offenders
Materials include one new Skill Set and Unit of Competency, and three updated units aimed at ensuring Correctional Services Officers have the appropriate skills and knowledge to better understand and assist offenders with a cognitive impairment.
– CSC Trauma informed approach
Materials include a new Skill Set, two new Units of Competency and three updated units aimed at ensuring Correctional Services Officers working with vulnerable offenders have the required skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about appropriate models of supervision for offenders who have experienced trauma.
A Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG) has been developed to assist assessors, trainers, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and enterprises.
